Welcome to Governors' AllianceThe school governing body association for your SGBGovernors' Alliance is a South African organisation structured in such a fashion that it co-ordinates member public school governing bodies into a collective forum where matters pertaining to school governance are addressed.
What is a school governing body ("SGB")?A governing body of a public school is legislated as such by Section 16 of the South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996 (as amended) ("SASA"). The governance of a public school is vested in its governing body. Why a public school governing body association?Legislation dictates that the govering body of a school may join a voluntary association representing governing bodies of a public school, (South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996 - as amended - Section 20(3)).
